Pierluigi Di Palma was born in Grottaglie in 1956.
Since the 1st of July 2021, he has been President of the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (Enac).
Mr. Di Palma graduated in Law from “La Sapienza” University in Rome. From 1984 to 1989, he practised as State Attorney with relevant professional experience at the District Attorneys’ Offices of Catanzaro, Bologna and Rome. State Lawyer since 1989, he was first based in Florence before moving to Rome in 1991 at the “Avvocatura Generale dello Stato”.
From 1998 to 2003, Pierluigi Di Palma was Director General of Enac. He served as legal advisor to the Ministers of Transport and Navigation, the Environment, and Trade and Industry, as well as Head of Cabinet of the Emilia-Romagna Region and Head of the Legislative Office of the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Mr. Di Palma was also President of the Interministerial Board for the Security of Air Transportation and Airports (CISA), Head of the ENAC and ENAV Representative Office to Community and European Institutions (EURICE), Deputy Secretary General of Defense from 2011 to 2014, and member of the Appeals Board of the European Space Agency (ESA) from 2011 to 2017.
In 2006, Pierluigi Di Palma founded the Study Center DE.ME.TRA. (Development of European Mediterranean Transportation), with the aim of promoting training, legal, administrative and economic initiatives in the aerospace sector.
